and do Quality Control Inspector (QCI) inspections at a new level.

Energy Auditor training will provide the groundwork for new/existing weatherization workers interested in understanding and expanding their knowledge of weatherization. Topics covered in this course include “House as a System”, “Energy Movement”, “Calculating Envelope Energy Loss”, and much more. The curriculum for this course is aligned with the NREL Job Task Analyses (JTAs). This training session is primarily in class with additional technical training in advanced blower door diagnostics, a review of current installation methodologies, and combustion safety instruction. Class participants will also get actual in-field training performing an energy audit. A knowledge quiz will be given after each module and students will be required to pass a final exam on the last day of training to receive a certificate of completion.

Course Description: Weatherization Attic Safety Training
This comprehensive 2-day course equips weatherization professionals with the essential knowledge and skills to safely and effectively perform energy-saving upgrades within attic environments. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of potential hazards, best safety practices, and techniques for navigating and working in attics while prioritizing their well-being and the integrity of the building. Through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, attendees will develop confidence and competence to execute attic weatherization projects safely and efficiently.

• Identifying Potential Hazards: Recognizing structural issues, electrical dangers, air quality concerns (mold, dust, insulation), temperature extremes, confined space risks, and pest/animal infestations.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Proper selection, inspection, use, and maintenance of respirators, protective suits, gloves, eye protection, and head protection.
• Safe Access and Egress: Establishing safe pathways, proper ladder use, and identifying emergency escape routes.
• Tool and Equipment Safety: Safe operation and maintenance of common weatherization tools used in attics.
• Working at Heights: Understanding and implementing fall protection measures.

This Lead Renovator RRP Initial Certification course is 8 hours in length and includes approved lead safety training and the required certification exam.
Any contractor performing qualifying renovation, repair, or painting (RRP) work on pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities must employ at least one Certified Renovator who has completed this training.

RRP Cancellation Policy
Cancellations less than 48 hours before the class begins will receive no refund.
Cancellations more than 48 hours before the class begins will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee.
Refunds will be provided within 10 business days by the same method of payment used to register for the course.

CAZ stands for Combustion Appliance Zone and it is the area that your water heater, furnace, wall/floor heater, and/or boiler is located as well as your gas fireplace, gas stove, gas oven, gas broiler, and even your gas dryer to a lesser degree. CAZ testing by a trained technician to make sure these gas appliances are working safely.

Course Description: Comprehensive Weatherization Health and Safety Training
This intensive 2-day course provides weatherization professionals with a foundational understanding of essential health and safety principles applicable to all aspects of residential energy efficiency upgrades. Participants will learn to recognize common workplace hazards, implement effective risk mitigation strategies, and adopt best practices to ensure a safe and healthy working environment throughout their weatherization activities. The course emphasizes proactive safety measures to protect workers and building occupants across a variety of weatherization tasks.

Over the two days, key topics will include:
• Foundations of Workplace Safety: Introduction to hazard identification, risk assessment, and the hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, PPE).
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Essentials: Understanding the importance of various types of PPE (head, eye, face, hand, foot protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection), proper selection, fit, use, inspection, and maintenance for different weatherization tasks.
• Safe Work Practices for Common Hazards:
o Slips, Trips, and Falls: Identifying and mitigating slip, trip, and fall hazards on various work surfaces and during transitions.
o Lifting and Material Handling: Implementing proper lifting techniques and using equipment safely to prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
o Working at Heights Safely: Understanding fall hazards, proper ladder use, and the basics of fall protection systems (if applicable to general tasks).
o Hand and Power Tool Safety: Safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of common hand and power tools used in weatherization.
